A Journey From Homemaker To Entrepreneur
In a quiet village of Mugma Basti, where opportunities were scarce, Nitu Singh’s life took a remarkable turn. A homemaker with big dreams and little resources, Nitu longed to contribute to her family’s income and create a better life for herself and her community.
Her chance came when she joined the Sita Self-Help Group (SHG). Through the support of FINISH Society and MPL, Nitu received specialized training in various livelihood skills, including making phenyl, bangles, and soft toys. She embraced the training wholeheartedly, envisioning a brighter future not just for herself, but for her entire village.
With limited savings, Nitu started small, opening a humble grocery shop near her home. Her shop stocked daily essentials and gradually became a hub for SHG products like phenyl and bangles. Determined to expand, she applied for a loan of ₹1 lakh through her SHG. The approval marked a pivotal moment in her journey.
Nitu poured her heart and soul into her business. Her warmth and dedication won the loyalty of her customers.
She said, “शुरुआत छोटी थी, लेकिन मैंने हर कदम पर सीखने और आगे बढ़ने का सपना देखा था।”
Her words resonated with the women in her SHG group, inspiring them to dream big and take bold steps.
The shop flourished, and so did Nitu. Her income steadily grew, granting her financial independence and the ability to contribute significantly to her family’s wellbeing. But Nitu didn’t stop there—she shared her knowledge and skills with other SHG women, helping them find their footing in the world of entrepreneurship.
The ripple effect of her success began transforming the community. Women who had once doubted their abilities were now taking inspiration from Nitu’s story. “If Nitu can do it, so can we,” they said, echoing her determination.
Today, Nitu Singh is not just a shopkeeper; she’s a role model. Her shop stands as a symbol of resilience, courage, and empowerment in Mugma Basti. Her journey highlights the power of skill development and financial inclusion in changing lives.
As she reflects on her journey, Nitu humbly credits the support she received:
“FINISH Society और MPL ने मुझे सही दिशा दिखाई। अब मैं चाहती हूँ कि मेरी तरह हर महिला आत्मनिर्भर बने।”
Nitu’s transformation from a homemaker to a successful entrepreneur demonstrates the profound impact of initiatives that combine training and microfinance. Her story serves as a beacon of hope, inspiring countless women to believe in their potential and strive for a brighter future.
