Position Overview: – Project Associate will play a critical role in engaging with the local communities in Mainpat, Chhattisgarh, to raise awareness and facilitate the successful implementation of a solid waste management (SWM) project. The role focuses on behavior change, capacity building, and fostering community participation to ensure sustainable waste management practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Community Engagement and Awareness:
    • Conduct community outreach to educate residents on waste segregation, composting, and recycling practices.
    • Organize awareness campaigns, workshops, and events to promote solid waste management
  • Stakeholder Coordination:
    • Collaborate with local authorities, and other stakeholders to align community initiatives with project goals.
    • Act as a liaison between the community and project management
  • Implementation Support:
    • Facilitate the distribution of resources such as waste bins and educational materials.
    • Assist in setting up and monitoring waste collection systems and composting units.
  • Training and Capacity Building:
    • Conduct training sessions for community members, local workers, and volunteers on best practices in waste management.
    • Empower local women’s groups and youth to take an active role in project activities.
  • Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Gather feedback from the community and provide regular progress reports to the project management team.
    • Identify challenges and propose solutions for improving project outcomes

Experience:-  1-3 years of experience in community mobilization or similar roles, preferably in waste management or environmental projects.

Qualification:-  Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Environmental Studies, or related fields.

Skills Required:- 

  1. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  2. Fluency in Hindi; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
  3. Basic understanding of solid waste management principles.
  4. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  5. Other: Willingness to travel and work in rural and semi-rural areas.

Location:- Mainpat, Chhattisgarh

Remuneration:-  INR.12,000/- PM – INR.15,000/-PM. Travel-as per organisation norms.
